After 2012, Waltham Forest will have brand new facilities, a state of the art National Hockey Centre, tennis courts, football and multi-sport facilities. The Velodrome sits only 50 metres over our border, so local people will be able to use the top cycling facilities in the sporting hub, in the North of the Olympic Park. Residents will have a 500 acre park on their doorstep, with a land bridge over the A406 joining the north of the Olympic Park to the rest of the Olympic Park.
The Games will bring so much more than just venues and facilities, and we are determined to make sure being a host borough means tangible and long-term benefits for local people.
Tour de Waltham Forest 2008
The second annual Tour de Waltham Forest took place on Sunday 22 June with over 200 people taking part in the guided bike rides and hundreds more enjoying the cycling activities in Walthamstow Town Square.
