If you are experiencing problems because of your use of drugs or alcohol and have made a decision to do something about this, there are services which can help. Staff can help you look at reasons why drugs and alcohol are affecting your life and how to regain control.

Waltham Forest Partnership Detached Youth Work Project (DYP Project)
A detached youth work project that targets young people aged 13 to 19, involved in drug use and drug related or other crime.
Young people are offered a range of activities and experiences that come from discussions while meeting with workers on the streets, health education workshops and residential experiences.
The project works in a number of identified locations across Waltham Forest and is delivered through a partnership of the Youth Service and voluntary sector.

Rehabilitation service
If you need help to stop using drugs or have a serious alcohol problem you may need to spend some time away from home in order to get help.
- you may be able to get help to look at the reasons for your drug or alcohol use
- it can help you look at ways to deal with stress which do not involve drugs or alcohol
- it can help you return to the community and remain drug free, not drinking or controlling your drinking
Who can have this service?
- you must be at least 18 years of age and normally live in Waltham Forest
- you will need to have been assessed by the Community Drugs and Alcohol Team, Social Worker or Probation officer as needing this service
Will I have to pay towards this service?
We do charge for this service. We will tell you how much this is likely to be (if at all) as part of your Community Care Assessment. See Community Care Charges for details.
How to get this service
If you have children who need to go with you, one of our Children and Families Social Workers will need to assess your family’s needs. Contact one of our local Social Services Offices.
If you do not need to take children with you, the following can give you advice:

Other drug and alcohol services
There are others services available in Waltham Forest to support people with drug and alcohol problems and their families and friends.
1NE (www.1ne.org.uk) provide day and outreach services to people who have a drink problem. It also has a relatives service that offers a place for those affected by another's drinking or drug taking to receive help for themselves.
