Local history collections in Waltham Forest are housed at two locations - Vestry House Museum and the William Morris Gallery.

Stocktaking closure: Waltham Forest Archives and Local Studies Library
5pm Saturday 29 November to 10am on Thursday 18 December 2008.
Temporary closure is necessary to allow us to undertake stocktaking work in order to improve the availability of our holdings. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
All the other areas of Vestry House Museum will be open as usual.
Vestry House Museum serves as a centre for the collection, preservation and interpretation of the past and present story of the people of Waltham Forest. This includes:
- Provision of a local history museum service for the Borough
- Care and management of the Waltham Forest Archives holdings

William Morris Gallery
William Morris Gallery collects, exhibits, interprets, preserves and records original artefacts and other materials. Associated research includes:
- Cataloguing of new acquisitions
- Information service
- Temporary exhibition and events programme
- School visits and education service
- Loan of art works to other institutions
