Sunday 21 September 2008
1pm – 7pm
Leytonstone Town Centre will be closed to traffic for a day of entertainment, stalls, live music, dancing, public art and children’s’ play areas.
What is car free day?
The aim of Car Free Day is to raise awareness of the health and environmental benefits of sustainable living and sustainable transport, by leaving the car behind. The event is a fun day out where visitors and the local community can enjoy one of the Borough's Town Centres as a traffic-free urban space.
Car free day 2007
Thousands of people descended on Leytonstone to enjoy this year's Car Free Day event on 23 September 2007. The event was bigger and better than ever.
On the day over 200 people pledged to swap at least one car journey a week for an alternative mode of transport such as walking, cycling or public transport. If you would also like to pledge to reduce your car use please go to imovelondon.
